Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has reached the final stage of selecting a consultant company for asset and liability assessment (DDA) for privatization of four sick industries.

The Ministry has finalized the selection of consultants for the DDA of Butwal Thread Factory, Nepal Metal Company, Janakpur Cigarette Factory and Nepal Orient Magnesite.

The ministry had started the process of selecting consultants from last July. Which was not yet finalized. According to the ministry, it will be finalized in some time.

According to the Ministry of Finance, six companies, including 2 each for Janakpur Cigarette Factory and Nepal Metal, were declared technically qualified.

The ministry is preparing to open the financial proposals of eligible companies on December 21. After the approval of the financial proposal, the consultant company will start valuation of the property.

The government is preparing to allow the private sector to operate these industries, which have been closed for years.
