Baglung. Work on the Baglung section of Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road has not gained momentum.

Locals and tourists visiting Dhorpatan have been facing a lot of problems as the road has not been upgraded for many years after the track was opened. The responsibility for graveling around 22 kilometers of the road from Burtibang to Phalleghar was given to Swachandandar Ombuddha JB Kathmandu four years ago.

Only 61 per cent of the gravel work has been completed so far. The agreement was signed on Kartik 5, 2021 to be completed in 30 months. The construction company is now working by extending the deadline for the third time.

The deadline is also till Jestha 2083 BS. According to Krishtina Thapa, information officer of the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan Road Project, the road section is being upgraded at the cost of Rs 256.11 million. According to him, the road is being widened and graveled along with the construction of drains. Thapa said that the construction company has been working for some time. He says this is the deadline. Thapa said that if it is not possible by June, it will go to another process. According to him, the construction company will complete the work by May if the construction company works at the current pace.

“The road was in limbo for a long time and now the construction company is working with the use of machines and workers. ”

Dal Bahadur Kunwar, a representative of Swachchchha÷Ombuddha JB, said that the work was to be completed by midJune. According to him, six big machines along with workers have been deployed on different sections of the road. Kunwar said that they are compelled to complete more work now as it is very cold in the months of December and January. Work on this section has gained momentum since last November.

The road started in 2068 BS from Rupandehi connects Dhorpatan via Sandhikharka, Gulmi and Palpa of Arghakhanchi. Though construction works in Rupandehi, Arghakhanchi, Palpa and Gulmi districts have been expedited, the Baglung section has not been able to meet the expectation. Deputy Mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality, Dhan Bahadur Kayat, said that the locals and tourists visiting Dhorpatan have been facing a lot of trouble due to mud in winter and dust in rainy season. According to him, the number of tourists coming to Dhorpatan has increased in recent period and they have been facing problems due to the bad condition of the road.

Deputy Mayor Kayat said, “Thousands of locals and tourists have suffered due to the delay in upgrading the Burtibang-Dhorpatan road for a long time. ”
