Lions Manaram Foundation Nepal’s new executive committee to set up libraries in 10 schools

Kathmandu. A new executive committee has been elected under the chairmanship of Sujan Kumar Shrestha of Lions Manram Foundation 2005 Nepal. The 14th general meeting of the Academy elected a new executive committee for a term of 3 years.

The convention elected Man Maya Shrestha as the patron, Suman Kumar Shrestha as senior vice-president, Rajan Lamsal as vice-president, Ram Prasad Ghimire as general secretary, Resham Bahadur Pokharel as secretary and Poonam Karki as treasurer. Similarly, Indu Lamsal, Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, Shakuntala Khadka, Parbati Kharel Pandey and Thakur Prasad Khanal have been elected as executive members. In the new working committee, the office-bearers and members of the previous working committee have been repeated.

During the program, each of the 10 schools contributed Rs 100,000 and Rs 35,000 worth of books to establish libraries in the schools. According to Principal Raghunath Sapkota, the foundation has provided books to Amrit Vidya Mandir, Bethanchowk-2, Kavre with local support from Lions Club of Kathmandu Border Women. According to Lion Rajan Lamsal, vice-president of the foundation, books have been provided to other schools with the help of local support of various clubs.

Lion Sujan Kumar Shrestha, president of the Foundation, informed that the Manram library has been established in 154 schools of all 77 districts of the country and this year the number of libraries has reached 164 with the addition of 10. District Governor Lion Parbati Kharel Pandey had selected the school for the establishment of the library. Treasurer Poonam Karki and Secretary Resham Bahadur Pokhrel presented the annual report in the AGM.

KATHMANDU: The Manram-SCAS Journalism Award, which is presented annually by the Sankhuwasabha-Kathmandu Journalists’ Association, was presented to Pokharel this year. Minister for Information and Communications Jagadish Kharel presented the award carrying a purse of Rs 50,000.
