5.89 billion food items imported via Birgunj border point

Persa. KATHMANDU: Imports of 16 food items worth Rs 5.89 billion have been recorded through Birgunj border point in the first four months of the current fiscal year. This is an increase of Rs 1.24 billion compared to the same period last year.

According to Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, chief of the Birgunj Customs Office, 42.1 million 86 thousand 111 kilograms of maize worth Rs 2.29 billion and 54 million 40 lakh 45 thousand 413 kilograms of paddy worth Rs 2.01 billion have been imported.

Likewise, a total of 109,44,560 kilograms of rice worth Rs 1.06 billion was imported.
