Kathmandu. The CPN-UML has decided to use electronic voting machines to elect its leadership in the upcoming 11th National General Convention.

CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said that electronic voting machines would be used this time as well to make the leadership election process faster. Earlier, the CPN (UML) had used electronic voting machines in the 10th national general convention held in Chitwan.

“We have decided to use electronic voting machine for the leadership election. A decision will be made soon on which company to do it. ”

The general convention will elect 251 central committee members including 15 office-bearers. The statute amendment proposal endorsed by the second statute general convention held in August last year had reduced the number of central committees. As many as 2,200 delegates are taking part in the general convention.

The CPN-UML general convention is taking place in Kathmandu from December 11 to 11. The closed session of the general convention will be held at Bhrikutimandap.
