Hearing on case against CAN DG Adhikari underway today

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Special Court on Monday issued a detention hearing on a corruption case against Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Director General Pradip Adhikari.

A three-member bench of Justices Narayan Prasad Poudel, Hemanta Rawal and Bidur Koirala is hearing on the case.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday filed a corruption case against 6 persons including Adhikari for their alleged involvement in the construction of Nalinchowk heliport in Bhaktapur.

After the hearing today, an order will be issued on whether to investigate the officer or release him on bail.

The anti-graft body has named Pradip Adhikari, its director Murari Bhandari, deputy manager Sambriddhi Shrestha, manager Nawal Bikram Thapa, chief of Engineer Consulting Pvt Ltd Bijaya Thapa and private engineer Guru Dutta Adhikari.

They have been fined Rs 13,57,46,213 each and have been fined.
