Mustang. KATHMANDU: The Mustang Customs Office based at Nhechung in Lomanthang-2 has collected Rs 4.41 billion in revenue from Nepal-China North Korala transit point.

A new surge in revenue collection at the Customs Office has come into full operation after the Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani border points were blocked in June and August due to floods, landslides and river erosion.

Amindra Singh, information officer at the Mustang Customs Office, said that the Nepal-China Mustang Customs Office transacted transaction worth Rs 9.48 billion.

Information Officer Singh said goods worth Rs 9.34 billion were imported from China through Korala border point as of Thursday.

According to him, the electric vehicles and goods transporters that have cleared the Chinese customs at Korala border have entered the country and these are being sent to the destination after clearing the customs check here.

Similarly, Nepal collected Rs 143.4 million in revenue while clearing customs clearance for export of handicrafts and other goods to China, said Singh. According to Mustang Customs, 1,761 electric vehicles have cleared the customs office in the past two and a half months with the full operation of Korala checkpoint. So far, more than a thousand transport vehicles have been cleared customs.

Information Officer Singh said more than 100 cargo vehicles are still in the process of clearing customs at the Mustang Customs Office. According to Information Officer Singh, more than a dozen vehicles have reached the Chinese customs at Korala transit for goods and are on their way up and up via Korala road.

The customs office here has created a vacancy of 18 employees. According to Amindra Singh, information officer at Mustang Customs, the office chief has created 18 posts for the post of under-secretary level office in-charge from the previous seven posts for section officer office chief.

The Department of Customs has created the vacancy for an under-secretary level office chief, two section officers, six revenue watchers, one accountant and computer operator, one driver and six office assistants.
