Kathmandu. Ncell Foundation is set to provide more than 2,000 educational materials for the boundaries of the matches played in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 till Thursday.

These materials will be provided to students of government and community schools as part of a social initiative that connects cricket with the classroom and every square with a bright future.

This effective initiative which was launched last year in collaboration with NPL has been supporting government and community school students all over Nepal. The foundation has committed to distribute four educational materials at each intersection of NPL Season 2. This initiative connecting the excitement of cricket with education is a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to providing meaningful academic support to students.

A total of 90 players hit a total of 510 fours in the matches of the NPL Season 2 that ended on Thursday, ensuring the distribution of 2,040 educational materials. Adam Rossington of Pokhara Avengers tops the list of top three batters with 27 fours. Darcy Short of Lumbini Lions was second with 19 fours and contributed 76 educational materials. Ben Charlesworth of Kathmandu Gorkhas and Binod Bhandari of Sudurpaschim Royals are in the third position with 17 fours each.

This initiative aims to bring positive changes in the education of students through the distribution of educational materials. Each kit to be provided to the students will consist of a bag along with necessary materials like notebooks, pencil, sharpener, eraser etc. It is believed that these materials will help students reduce the lack of resources required for teaching and learning and contribute to their learning.

“We would like to congratulate and thank each and every player who contributed to this social initiative by hitting boundaries in the matches till Thursday. Since last year, we have been connecting our passion for cricket with meaningful social work by providing educational materials to students. We are confident that the remaining games will be more exciting which will not only expand our sports but also expand our contribution to education,” said Bishakha Laxmi Khadka, corporate communications and sustainability director of Ncell.

Last year, the foundation pledged to provide more than 2,612 educational materials from the 653 fours hit in the first season of the NPL. In line with its commitment, with 2,612 contents, the Foundation has distributed more than 9,000 educational materials across the country, empowering thousands of students with much-needed educational content.

This year too, the educational materials will be distributed in coordination with Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), local bodies and partner organization Karma Yoga Foundation.
