Kathmandu. The first meeting of the steering committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has been held today.
In the meeting held virtually on Sunday, the chairpersons of the association, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha and Dr. Badri KC presided over the meeting while General Secretary duo Baburam (BR) Lama and Gauri Raj Joshi jointly hosted the meeting.
The first meeting of the party held in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki has also formed an election committee for the 12th general convention of the 12 NRNAs.
Tej Bahadur Karki, a judge at the High Court, has been appointed as the chief election commissioner. There will be 7 members in the election committee including him. Likewise, Bharat Aryal (US), Surendra Shrestha and Chiranjibi Dhakal (UK), Homnath Pandey (Australia), Narendra Bhat (Middle East) and TB Karki (Middle East) have been appointed as election commissioners.
The meeting also decided to open its membership for one month from December 9 in view of the upcoming general convention.
General Secretary duo Lama and Joshi have been given the responsibility to prepare a working procedure and submit it to the steering committee within 2 days. In countries having one, two or more NCC, it has also been decided to give the responsibility of verifying membership to the President and General Secretary of the concerned NCC.
The 11-member steering committee comprises Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, Dr Badri KC, Binod Kunwar, RK Sharma, Binod Shrestha, BR Lama, Gauri Raj Joshi, Ratan Jha, Gangadhar Gautam, Bhawani Oli and Indra Ban.
