Persa. The customs clearance has been affected due to the agitation of customs agents.
The customs agents have been protesting against the provisions of the Act 2082 designed to amend and integrate the laws related to customs that came into effect from December 3.
All operations except the customs clearance of petroleum products came to a standstill on Tuesday. President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hari Prasad Gautam, stressed the need of addressing problems created by the Customs Act-2082.
Chief of Birgunj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, said efforts were underway to resolve the problem and he was hopeful that the customs clearance process would not be halted from today.
