More than 1,000 customers, including private and government consumers, have not paid Rs 225 million to the drinking water corporation.

Kailali. Nepal Water Supply Corporation, which has been distributing drinking water in Dhangadhi for a long time, has more than Rs 2.25 crore in arrears to be collected from various private and public organizations.

According to Pankaj Kumar Das, chief of accounts section of the office, the amount that is yet to be collected from private and public customers in the fiscal year 2081/82 is Rs 23.12 million. Das said that they are yet to collect the arrears from 1,029 consumers who have availed of drinking water services including 985 private and 44 government services.

Of this, the remaining amount is Rs 32 lakh to be collected from government offices. The Drinking Water Corporation Dhangadhi has been distributing drinking water to ward 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17 and 19 of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis. In some wards, the process of distributing drinking water has been forwarded from the current fiscal year.

Nepal Water Supply Corporation Dhangadhi, established in 2046 BS, distributes 1.5 million MLD (liters) of water daily to the local consumers in 18 to 20 hours, according to the drinking water distribution section of the office. Currently, there are 10,450 service seekers of the Drinking Water Corporation, Dhangadhi. The corporation has been collecting Rs 110 as minimum service charge for drinking drinking water every month.
