Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that there is no legal provision for him to go to the probe commission formed to investigate the Sept. 23 and 24 agitation.

Oli said this at an interaction with editors organized by Press Chautari Nepal here today.

The agreement reached on Wednesday in the name of representatives of the Government of Nepal and Genji on the issue of political system and system has been termed as an artless drama.

Oli questioned where the incumbent government got the mandate to sign such an agreement and commented that the incumbent government is like a snake stuck to the house by putting cow dung on the occasion of Nag Panchami.

“The agreement says that the dissolved parliament has lost the support of the people. That’s not the reality. Those with irrelevant and anti-national sentiments are just trying to capture the situation through subversion. Therefore, this government does not have the mandate to sign such an agreement,” he said, adding, “The old and big political parties like UML and Nepali Congress are active in this country and the government should understand that Nepal’s time is there even after March 4.” I urge you to work keeping this in mind. ”

Responding to the question of selection of party leadership in the upcoming 11th National General Convention of the party, he said he could again become the party chairman if consensus was forged or the representatives were elected. Expressing the belief that the general convention would bring some changes in the status quo and the leadership would be gradually transferred and handed over to the leadership, he urged senior vice-president Ishwor Pokhrel and other leaders to take the initiative for consensus by staying within the party rather than proposing outside.

Stating that the UML is a party with a long history and is drenched among the people, he urged those who want to finish the UML to come to the inaugural session of the general convention to be held at Sallaghari of Bhaktapur on December 10 to see the status of the UML.

Replying to another question, he said that he held talks with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on contemporary issues of national politics including the reinstatement of the parliament and the results would be forthcoming gradually. Stating that they were not satisfied with the court verdicts, he clarified that the UML would not launch violent agitation even if the order was not received as per their demand. He warned of launching peaceful protests if the situation came to save the country and the system.
