Kathmandu. Lumbini Lions won the title of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
Lumbini Lions defeated Sudurpaschim Royals by 6 wickets in the final match of the tournament held today.
In reply, Lumbini Lions chased down the target of 86 runs in 9 overs at the loss of 4 wickets. Dinesh Adhikari scored 42 runs for Lumbini, while captain Rohit Paudel scored 16 runs, D’Archi Short scored 14 runs and Niroshan Dickwella scored 11 runs.
Similarly, Hemanta Dhami took 2 wickets for Sudurpaschim while Dipendra Singh Airee and Avinash Bohara took 1 wicket each.
Batting first, losing the toss, Sudurpaschim Royals scored 19 runs. They were all out for 85 runs in 1 over. Ishan Pandey top-scored with 33 runs while skipper Dipendra Singh Airee scored 13 runs and Scott Kuggeleijn scored 10 runs each.
Similarly, Rohit Paudel, Sher Malla, Ruben Trumpelmann and Rohit Paudel took 3 wickets each for Lumbini. Captain Paudel took a hat-trick in this match.
Lumbini, who finished bottom last season, won the first title of the NPL. Lumbini won the title with Rs 1.10 crore. Likewise, the runners-up Sudur Paschim Royals got Rs 51 lakhs. Likewise, Biratnagar Kings got Rs 25 lakhs and Kathmandu Gorkhas got Rs 15 lakhs in the fourth position.
