Rasuwa. Rasuwa: Power generation has been affected in Rasuwa district as the water level in the rivers and streams has gone down.

According to entrepreneurs, the water level in the rivers and rivulets has decreased due to increasing cold in the upper part of the district.

The 22 MW Chilime Hydropower Project has been generating 16 MW, the 14.8 MW Upper Sangjen generating 6 MW, the 42.5 MW Lower Syangjen generating 30 MW and the 78 MW Salasungi generating 5 MW electricity in recent period.

Raju Shrestha, an engineer at Salasungi Hydropower, said that cold has caused a huge cut in power generation. We are compelled to generate less electricity than capacity as the water flow has receded. After March, the rate of snow melting increases and the water level in the river starts increasing. After that, electricity will be generated as per the capacity of the project. ”

According to Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company executive officer Satyaram Jyakhwa, the project is currently generating 37 MW of electricity following the reconstruction of structures of the 111-MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Center. The project is expected to generate 65 to 70 MW of electricity during winter if the reconstruction works are completed.
