For the month of January, the interest rate of commercial banks has fallen below the average of 5 percentage points. The interest rate of commercial banks has been reduced to 4.83 percent for December from 5.040 points in November.
Sanima Bank has fixed the interest rate at 3.75 percent. The bank is offering the lowest interest rate of deposits. Global IME Bank has recorded the highest percentage of 5.50 percent.
As many as 13 commercial banks have reduced the maximum interest rate on personal fixed deposits in the month of December compared to the previous month. Prime Commercial Bank, Global IME Bank and Rastriya Banijya Bank Ltd each decreased by 0.5 percentage points. Likewise, Prabhu Bank and Agricultural Development Bank have reduced the interest rate by 0.4 percentage points each, while Kumari Bank has reduced the interest rate by 0.38 percent.
On such deposits, 7 commercial banks have continued the interest rate for the month of November. Meanwhile, Citizens Bank Limited, Machhapuchchhre Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Siddhartha Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, NMB Bank and Himalayan Bank have increased their interest rates on fixed deposits.
