Kathmandu. Employees of Jyoti Bikas Bank have been harassed while going to discuss the loan auction process.

The borrower abused the bank staff, smeared soot and garlanded his shoes.

Locals of Saptakoshi Municipality-7 of Saptari district smeared soda and garlanded them with shoes as the bank’s staff did not pay the loan on time.

On December 10, the employees of Rupani branch of Saptari had gone to a borrower in Saptakoshi Municipality-7.

Prakash Baral, information officer of Jyoti Bikas Bank, said that the borrowers gathered the locals and misbehaved with the locals, beat them up and garland them with shoes.

“Saptakoshi Integrated Agriculture Farm had taken more than Rs 10 million SME loan from the bank,” he said, adding, “The borrower had not repaid the loan for 118 days.” When we went to discuss this matter, the employees of our bank were treated rudely. ’

According to Baral, the Prime Minister’s Office has also expressed concern over the issue.

Baral said that the bank has also informed the Nepal Rastra Bank, Development Banks Association, Confederation of Bank and Financial Institutions (CBFIN) and Bankers’ Association about this.

Meanwhile, the aggrieved employees have reached the police office to lodge a complaint against them for misbehaving with them, taking them away and wearing a garland of shoes.
