Former president of NCC Malla urges Chinese investors to invest in Nepal

Kathmandu. Former President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajendra Malla has urged Chinese industrialists and businesspersons to invest in Nepal.

Speaking at a programme organized by Chinese General Association of Industry and Commerce in Nepal, Chairman Malla said Nepal was a very attractive destination in terms of technology, innovation and investment.

He said Nepal was suitable for investment due to its natural resources, strategic and geographical location and energetic young human resources. He said, “The products produced in Nepal with Chinese investment can easily increase access to India and Chinese markets.” ’

The incumbent president said that the investment climate has been conducive due to the clear commitment of the incumbent government towards the security of foreign investment in Nepal.

He said that there is immense potential in sectors such as hydropower, tourism, agriculture, information technology, infrastructure and real estate. Malla is of the view that employment generation, industry construction and national transformation can be accelerated through modern technology, big capital and development experience if Chinese investment is brought in these sectors.

Saying they are ready to work with Chinese industrialists and business persons, he said that investment would be made stable, friendly and return would be ensured. “This is the right time to invest in Nepal, opportunities are expanding and our partnership with China is getting stronger,” he said. ’

Outgoing Chairman Malla said that Nepal-China cooperation would achieve common prosperity for both countries. Stating that Nepal and China have historical relations since the seventh century, he recalled the incident of Nepal’s Bhrikuti marrying the Tibetan king.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Zhong said that Chinese investment was being expanded in Nepal in tourism and agriculture sectors.
