Insurance Authority employees go on strike with 7-point demand

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Employees of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) have launched a seven-point protest with various demands. The employees said that they have started the first phase of agitation from Tuesday.

Earlier, the NEA employees had given 21 days to fulfill their demands. They have been protesting further from today saying that their demands have not been met.

Employees union and employees union of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) have jointly protested. In the first phase, they will wear black bands for 4 days and put up black banners in the office premises. If necessary, more robust programs will be announced in a phased manner.

The NRA has to implement the report along with the services and facilities of the Ministry and new positions (new structure, organization) and structure after being approved by the Board of Directors on May 26, 2082 and the process of filling the posts has to be forwarded.

Since insurance is a technical subject, the post of Deputy Director will be filled only through internal competition and performance evaluation process by amending the employee exchange list as there is no availability of manpower as per the requirement of the organization while filling the post through open competition.

As the technical and administrative groups are not clear in the Employees By-laws, there is a possibility of problems and disputes in the near future, so there is a need to make policy arrangements by clarifying the provision of provincial transfers and geographical organs to resolve these issues on time.

Provision should be made only on the basis of the committee to represent the employees on the issues related to the employees such as learning opportunities, capacity development, improvement of the work environment, hearing the complaints of the employees and boosting the morale of the employees.

There should be a maximum term limit for the post of director.

Arrangements should be made to formulate a succession plan of the Authority and implement it as soon as possible.

For the institutional improvement and development of the NRA, re-engineering has to be done through international level institutions.
