Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has said its serious attention has been drawn towards incidents targeting banks and financial institutions in recent days.

According to the NRB, if there is any complaint related to banking transactions, the concerned institution and the Rastra Bank have a provision for redressal of the complaint.

It has urged all concerned not to indulge in activities affecting the financial services as it would be difficult to mobilize financial instruments if the unprofessional and unruly activities against the banks and financial institutions and their employees were not controlled.

Likewise, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged the employees working in the financial sector to work with high morale as those involved in irresponsible behavior and unruly activities will be punished as per the prevailing law.

The presence of banks and financial institutions at all local levels as per the joint efforts of the Government of Nepal, Nepal Rastra Bank and banks and financial institutions has made it easier for the general public to deposit their money, take loans, get remittance and social security services at the local level.

“The main task of the concerned BFIs is to disburse loans, monitor loan projects and recover loans in accordance with the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 BS and the directives of the bank,” the statement reads.

It has reminded that the banks and financial institutions collect deposits from the general public and disburse loans, so they will not be able to repay the deposits if the loans are not repaid.

The NRB has been facilitating the loans by making arrangements for restructuring and rescheduling the loan from time to time to address the difficulties caused by any adverse situation.
