Nepal Trust land lease scam: Fraud case filed against 4 including former secretary Karki

Kathmandu. A case of fraud has been filed against 4 persons in connection with the land lease scam of Nepal Trust.

The case was filed by the District Government Attorney’s Office on the basis of the investigation conducted by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.

The case was filed against former joint secretary Lekh Bahadur Karki, former secretary Arjun Kumar Karki, Thamserku Trekking and Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa.

The case filed at the Kathmandu District Court has demanded a jail term of 5 years for all of them.

They had accepted the offer of Rs 6.45 billion 666 million 37 thousand 994 to the Nepal Trust, but the agreement was made for Rs 159 crore 40 lakh 52 thousand 204 thousand 60 rupees, the investigation showed.

Nepal Trust had called for tender on June 28, 2016 to lease out the land at Durbarmarg. As per the tender, it was decided to lease out plot number 4606 to Thamserku Trekking Pvt Ltd on May 28, 2017.
