Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has slapped Rs 50,000 each to two industries and firms.
The department has penalized Priya Sweet and Chat House, Maharajgunj of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3 and I Café, Restaurant and Bar, Tokha with Rs 50,000 each.
The department has monitored 14 other firms and has taken directive action. The department has intensified market monitoring in the recent days. It has been working to clean the market, control black marketing and stop the sale and distribution of inedible goods.
According to the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS, the producer has to maintain the factory price of each product and the wholesale or retail price list of each product sold and distributed by the seller. There is a provision to keep the business registration certificate and business registration and license in the case of business in the place of sale in a way that the general public can see.
Action has been taken for not following the same provision.
