EVs worth Rs 10 billion imported in five months, Rs 6.75 billion collected

Kathmandu. In the current fiscal year 2082÷83, around Rs 10 billion worth of electric vehicles (EVs) were imported. According to the data released by the Department of Customs, the government collected Rs 6.75 billion in revenue from the import of EVs in the first five months.

In the first five months of the current fiscal year, 12,489 vehicles were imported in assembly and unassembled EVs. EVs worth Rs 9.85 billion were imported till November. The government collected revenue of Rs 5.87 billion during the period.

During this period, only 3800 assembled EV cars have arrived. According to the department’s data, EV cars worth Rs 8.95 billion have been imported. Last month, till November, 32 hundred and three EV cars, jeeps and vans of different capacities had arrived.

As of November, 1,201 vehicles with 50 kW, 2,164 vehicles of 51 to 100 kW, 414 vehicles of 101 to 200 kW and 5 EVs of 201 to 300 kW capacity have arrived.

According to customs data, EVs with 51 to 100 kW have been the most imported vehicles so far. At the same time, three-wheeler EVs are also found to be indoors at a high rate. As of November alone, 3822 three-wheeler EVs worth Rs 39.44 crore have been imported.
