Imports worth Rs 766 billion in five months, exports worth Rs 116 billion

Kathmandu. Imports amounted to Rs 7.66 trillion in the first six months of the current fiscal year while exports amounted to Rs 116 billion. Nepal’s merchandise exports have increased by 58.17 percent in the first five months of the current fiscal year.

Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 73.65 billion in the first five months of the last fiscal year. Nepal has exported goods worth Rs 116.50 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year.

Imports increased by 15.83 percent in the review period. Nepal imported goods worth Rs 661.48 billion in the first five months of the last fiscal year. Nepal imported goods worth Rs 766.18 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year.

In the review period, Nepal’s trade deficit stood at Rs 649.68 billion. This is 10 percent compared to the same period last year. That’s 52 percent more. The country had a trade deficit of Rs 587.82 billion in the first five months of the last fiscal year.

Soybean oil exports were the highest during the review period. In the review period, 225.28 million kg of soybean oil worth Rs 46.55 billion was exported.

The second is cardamom. Cardamom exported Rs 5.53 billion in the review period. Carpet is in third place. During the review period, carpets worth Rs 4.13 billion were exported.
