Birgunj. In the first five months of the current fiscal year, Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 72.28 billion.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, revenue of Rs 30.25 billion has been collected from the import of five types of petroleum products.
Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the revenue has increased in the first five months of the current fiscal year.
The revenue collection in the first five months of the last fiscal year was 6.42 per cent or Rs 1.83 billion more than the revenue collected in the first five months of the previous fiscal year. In the first five months of the last fiscal year, imports of five types of petroleum products amounted to Rs 69.15 billion. Diesel worth Rs 35.31 billion was imported through Birgunj in the first five months of the current fiscal year.
Petrol worth Rs 173.6 million and LP gas worth Rs 12.17 billion were imported in the review period. Likewise, ATF worth Rs 7.25 billion and kerosene worth Rs 190 million were imported during the period.
