Myagdi. Beni Municipality’s people’s representatives and locals have put pressure on the government to repair the Ratnechaur-Bhakunde road within a month of blacktopping.
The Road Division Office, Baglung, had recently blacktopped the Upallachaur-Arjam-Bimirabot section of the road linking Beni municipality-1, Ratnechaur to ward-2, Bhakunde under the ‘One Constituency, One Road’ project.
Locals including Tek Bahadur Thapa, ward no 1 chair, Yam Bahadur Karki, former chairman Hira Bahadur Thapa and others reached the Road Division Office and drew the attention of the locals to the issue of the failure to catch the chips laid on the road and the potholes were formed.
On the occasion, officiating chief of the Road Division, Bishnu Lamichhane, and Arun Sedhai, project manager of the construction company, Gajendra Nayabato JV, inspected the road. “There were complaints that the road was not of good quality since the foundation was laid. The issue was not heeded even after being warned in writing,” said Karki, chairman of Ward No. 2. ”
As per the agreement, DBSD will be done at the rate of seven meters in the nine-meter wide road. Gajendra Nayabato JV had signed a contract for the project on August 23, 2022. The deadline to complete the work in 30 months has been extended to the next mid-March.
According to the Road Division, 75 per cent physical progress has been made so far. Lamichhane, acting chief of the Road Division Office, Baglung, pledged to bring reforms to the problems seen on the road.
Sedhai, the project manager of the construction company, said that the first phase of blacktopping and the base was damaged by floods and in the second phase, the bitumen laid in the second phase would melt and catch the chips.
