Department imposes cash penalty on two firms, corrective directives to 12 industries

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has imposed cash fines on two industries and firms.

The department has fined Julie Cake and Pastry Hotel Lalitpur and Jiri Khimti Hotel Restaurant with five thousand penalties.

Action has been taken against the offender as per Section 15 and Section 38 D of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.

Similarly, the department has issued corrective directives to 12 other industries or firms. According to the Department, regular monitoring is being carried out at various hotels and restaurants in Kathmandu and Lalitpur.

The Department has been regularly monitoring, inspecting, fines and corrective directives in recent days to avoid complaints that the monitoring was carried out only during the festival time.

According to the Department, careful monitoring has been carried out to maintain the cleanliness of the market, control black marketing and prevent the use of inedible substances in the food items.

The department claims that the monitoring of the market in the presence of local administration, consumer rights activists and people’s representatives has made it easier to implement the law.
