Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has set the expenditure limit for the election to the National Assembly. The EC has set a limit of Rs 3.50 lakh for the National Assembly election candidate.
The EC has set the expenditure limit of Rs 1,000 for purchasing voters’ name list, Rs 70,000 for vehicles, Rs 10,000 for fuel and Rs 14,500 for election campaign materials.
Similarly, the budget for transportation is Rs 10,000, Rs 100,000 for seminar and interaction and Rs 14,500 for other publicity, print and electronic media. Similarly, they can spend Rs 70,000 for office operation, Rs 30,000 for delegate mobilization and Rs 30,000 for miscellaneous headings. The election to the National Assembly is taking place on January 24.
According to the commission, the candidate should open a separate account in the bank or financial institution and spend from the same account and the responsible officer to spend on behalf of the candidate while making such an expenditure. According to the EC, the election expenditure details should be made public after the completion of the election and submitted to the EC as per the National Assembly Election Act, 2075 BS.
