Difference in election expenditure in remote and convenient districts: Rs 2.5 million to be spent in 5 constituencies of Kathmandu, maximum Rs 33 lakh

Kathmandu. The government has set a limit on the expenditure of candidates in the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.

The Election Commission has fixed different expenditure limits in the districts considered accessible and remote districts.

According to the EC, the candidates of the five constituencies of Kathmandu will be able to spend a maximum of Rs 25 lakh. Kathmandu constituency 1, 3, 6, 7 and 8 are among them. Similarly, the maximum expenditure limit for candidates in 17 constituencies has been fixed at Rs 2.7 million.

Similarly, candidates from 65 constituencies will be allowed to spend a maximum of Rs 29 lakh. According to EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, candidates of 52 constituencies can spend a maximum of Rs 3.1 million while candidates from 26 constituencies can spend a maximum of Rs 3.3 million.

According to him, the candidate will have to open a separate account in a bank or financial institution while spending money from the same account. While making such expenditure, the responsible officer to spend on his behalf shall be specified and the details including his name and name shall be submitted to the Office of the Returning Officer.

As per the Member of the House of Representatives Act, the election expenditure details have to be submitted to the election office within 35 days from the date of declaration of election results.
