Tanker carrying LP gas obstructs Mahendra Highway

Rautahat. The East-West Highway has been obstructed when a tanker carrying LP gas met with an accident near Lamah bridge along the Chandranigahapur-Dhansar road section of Rautahat this morning.

The tanker (UP 17 AT 2114) was en route to Mahendranagar of Dhanusha district carrying LP gas from Raxaul of India when the accident took place. Tanker driver Pawan Yadav, 35, of Jayanagar police station in Kadora district of India was injured in the accident. The injured driver is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital in Chandranigahapur, said Rajendra Thapa Magar, chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Rautahat.

Traffic Police Chief Thapa Magar said vehicles coming from east have stopped in front of the District Traffic Police Office at Chandranigahapur while those coming from the west have stopped near Dhansar bridge.

The road has been blocked due to accidents in the middle of the tanker and the risk of accidents has increased due to gas leakage. A team comprising technicians of LPG company is arriving from Janakpur to lift the tanker, he said.
