Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has issued an order to dismiss the membership of one and a half dozen substantive members of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

A division bench of Justices Chandra Bahadur Saru and Gopal Prasad Bastola issued the order to dismiss the membership of 18 commodity associations.

Nepal Pole Association President Kishor Pradhan had filed a writ petition at the Patan High Court, arguing that the FNJ had given membership to the FNJ against the standard. The High Court on December 30 issued a verdict on the writ petition filed by Pradhan and ordered the cancellation of the membership of 18 substantive members. According to Shrestha, the writ petition has been filed against the recommendation of the membership committee and the statute of 18 associations.

The membership committee of the federation on March 7, 2081 had decided to recommend the membership to the Executive Committee of the FNJ out of 19 applications received for the substantive membership.

Contrary to the recommendation of the membership committee on March 6, the executive committee had decided to provide substantive membership to all those who had applied for it. Pradhan had filed the writ petition naming 25 defendants including FNCCI President Chandra Dhakal, Executive Committee and Membership Committee and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Pradhan said that he went to the court after the membership was given against the recommendation of the membership committee and the statute. He said that with the court’s order, the message has been sent that one should not work against the dignity and statute of the organization while staying in the federation. “I have gone to the court to ensure that no one does anything wrong while staying in the organization, that everyone should abide by the statute and maintain the dignity of the organization,” said Pradhan. ’

The order was filed by Nepal Federation of Petroleum Transport Entrepreneurs, Nepal Yarsa Gumba Association, AAC Brick Producers’ Association, Nepal Paper Producers’ Association, Nepal Walnut Producers and Entrepreneurs Association, Association of Private Health Institutions of Nepal, Energy Producers’ Association of Nepal, Nepal Kiwi Producers and Entrepreneurs Association, Nepal Baker Association, Nepal Millet and Buckwheat Association.

Similarly, Nepal National Booksellers and Publishers Association, Nepal Orange and Lemon Association, Federation of Nepal Books and Stationery Entrepreneurs, Plast Nepal Foundation Teku, Nepal Singing Bowl Association, Nepal Agriculture and Livestock Entrepreneurs Association and Federation of Nepal Distributors Association have been scrapped.
