Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) and Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) have organized an interaction program on the possibilities of collaboration in trade, transit facilitation and tourism promotion. The common objective of the meeting was to support economic growth and entrepreneurship development in Nepal.
Welcoming the delegation, Roshni Maiya Dhaubanja, President of BCCI, spoke about the economic and cultural characteristics of Bhaktapur. Describing Bhaktapur as a traditional city rich in cultural and religious heritage, she said that there was a huge potential for tourism-based development.
“BCCI is actively working in agriculture, handicrafts and tourism promotion,” Dhaubanja said, adding, “Along with these sectors, we are also involved in promoting traditional Nepali products like Bhadgaunle Topi and Bhaktapur’s famous yogurt ‘Juju Dhau’.” ”
Mr. Sunil KC, President of NIKI, briefed the participants about the role of NICC in facilitating bilateral trade and stressed the need for close cooperation between the two associations especially on the issues related to exports. “India is not only the main gateway for Nepal’s exports but also the largest market for Nepali goods and services,” he said. “If you have problems with exports, you can consult Nikkei. By constantly dialogue and complementing each other’s efforts, we can work together towards the common goal of promoting Nepal. ”
During the interaction, the BCCI members expressed their hope for Nikki’s support in trade and transit facilitation, including customs procedures for handicraft exports and import of various goods from India. He also urged the participants to help promote tourism in Bhaktapur along with centuries-old temples such as Changunarayan and Doleshwor Mahadev.
Responding to these demands, Kunal Kayal, Vice President of Nikkei, expressed Nikkei’s commitment to collaboration. “Nikki is ready to join hands with BCCI to enhance its capacity and help promote products and tourism potential in Bhaktapur,” he added.
Similarly, Secretary General of NIKI, Rajan Sharma, pledged to provide technical support through training, especially on trade and transit issues. “Nikki is committed to support the BCCI through training and knowledge sharing to solve the challenges related to trade and transit,” said Sharma.
During the meeting, the two associations agreed to collaborate closely on trade, transit and tourism related initiatives. The collaboration is accepted as a key basis for sustainable economic growth and entrepreneurship development in Nepal.
