Persa. With the increase in the flow of Indian and domestic tourists to Thori of Parsa, investment in hotels and resorts has increased.

Nearly a dozen hotels and resorts have come into operation after Thori was developed as a tourist destination.

Artist and hotel entrepreneur Sushant Singh Thakuri said that they are working to expand the restaurant into a well-equipped resort targeting the tourists. “We have been running a restaurant here for four years and have been operating a nature resort with the increase in tourists of late,” he said.

Thakuri said that around four crores have been invested for the construction of the resort. According to him, the influx of Indian and domestic tourists has increased the business here. According to him, until four years ago, 90 per cent of the Indian guests and 10 per cent of the domestic guests used to come here. But now 70 percent of the Indian guests and 30 percent of the domestic guests have started coming here.

Similarly, Birgunj-based businessmen Zimdar Raut Kurmi and Dharmendra Patel are also preparing to operate Lord of Thori Hotel with swimming pool in Thori.

“We have brought the hotel into operation to address the shortage of well-managed hotels in order to prolong the stay of tourists in Thori,” he said, adding, “We believe that this will support the lack of good hotels in Thori even now.” Entrepreneurs say that more than Rs 500 million has been invested in about 15 dozen hotels and resorts in Thori.

Thori has become a perennial tourist destination. Not only Indians, but domestic tourists from around Parsa also visit Thori. There are around 50 tourist spots in Thori including Raidhara, Seto Pahad, Goledanda, Rato Pahad, Sinehi Pahad, Stone Park, Raniban, Amritdhara, Chisapani, Sitagufa, Banshakti Temple, Baghmorcha Temple, Shikaribas among others.

Madhesh Province’s first homestay is in operation in Subarnapur. A large number of tourists go to see the sunrise and sunset from the view tower located in Thori Rural Municipality-2. Thori is the confluence of three national parks. Nature-loving tourists also visit there to observe the wildlife and flora.

Tourists from Jamuniya, Narkatiyagunj, Ramnagar, Raxaul, Sugauli, Muzaffarpur and Patna, among other cities bordering India, visit Thori.
