Kathmandu. The temperature has decreased in various parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley has dropped by one degree Celsius to 3.5 degrees Celsius in the past two days.
The temperature in Kathmandu was 4.5 degrees Celsius on January 2 while it dropped to 3.5 degrees Celsius at 9 am today. Yesterday, the temperature was 4 degrees.
Meteorologist Binu Maharjan said the temperature this year is the lowest this year and the temperature is likely to decrease gradually in January. He said that the temperature has decreased in many places of the country including Kathmandu.
The temperature across the country has been decreasing since the beginning of December but it has further decreased today. The temperature in the second and third weeks of December has gradually decreased compared to the first week of December. On December 22, the temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 4.9 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Kathmandu had dropped to 4.8 degrees Celsius on December 29. The temperature dropped to 4.6 degrees Celsius on January 2 while it dropped to 4.5 degrees Celsius on December 3.
According to the data recorded at the Department, Jumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the entire country at minus 6.3 degrees Celsius. It was minus 4.9 degrees Celsius in Jumla on January 2.
The two-day record has come down from 2.7 to 2.1 in Dadeldhura. It has come down from 6 in Dipayal to 4.4 today. Birendranagar decreased from 5 to 3.8, Ghorahi from 8 to 5.7, Pokhara from 8.5 to 7.9 and Okhaldhunga from 4.9 to 4.3. However, it has increased only slightly in Taplejung, Simara and Dhankuta. The maximum temperature in the country is below 22 degrees Celsius.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said fog, mist and cold wave are prevailing in the Tarai region and this trend will continue for continuing. In many places, it will open from noon. Some places in the mountainous region have received snowfall while rivers have also accumulated in many places.
