Closing of schools in Kathmandu valley and mountainous region along with increasing cold, decrease in tourist arrival, and people producing eggs without sale in the hope of getting better price are some of the reasons behind the price drop.

Stating that the consumption is less and the production is higher now as compared to the past, Pokharel said that the demand for eggs will increase again with the easing of winter.TAG_OPEN_div_9 “The cost of production of eggs is Rs 19.12 per egg. If this is calculated, the cost price of the farmer is Rs 574 per crate. The price of eggs will fall again as the price of eggs is nearing the end of the cost,” he said.

The association fluctuates the support price of eggs according to market conditions.
