Rs 2.56 billion investment for startups in Koshi Province

. According to a study conducted by Nepal Rastra Bank, entrepreneurs between the age of 21 and maximum 70 years are involved in start-ups.

According to a special study report conducted by the central bank on the trend of startup enterprises in Koshi Province, the total investment in this sector is Rs 2.56 billion.TAG_OPEN_div_19 Of this, 38.7 percent is debt and 61.3 percent is self-capitalized.

According to the study, 39.3 percent of entrepreneurs in the age group of 21 to 35 years, 44.4 percent of entrepreneurs in the age group of 36 to 50 years and 16.4 percent of entrepreneurs in the age group of 50 to 70 years are included.TAG_OPEN_div_17 Among the entrepreneurs in the age group of 21-35 years, the highest number of entrepreneurs are involved in information technology (73.3 percent) followed by agriculture (21.2 percent).

Younger people are more interested in digital and technology-focused enterprises, while entrepreneurs in the age group of 36 to 50 years are most involved in the agriculture sector.TAG_OPEN_div_15 26.7 percent of youths are enrolled in the information technology sector. According to the study, the 50-70 year old age group has the highest participation of 27.3 percent in the tourism sector, while there is no involvement of this age group in the information technology sector.

According to the central bank, data was collected from 160 start-up enterprises in Koshi Province based on the number of enterprises that have applied for startup loan at the Industrial Business Development Institute and are shortlisted.TAG_OPEN_div_13

The 160 enterprises that participated in the study include five business sectors—agriculture and forestry, production-oriented, service-oriented, tourism and information technology.TAG_OPEN_div_11 Among them, 41.3 per cent are agriculture and forest-related enterprises, 18.1 per cent production-oriented, 17.5 per cent service-oriented, 13.8 per cent tourism and information technology (9.4 per cent).
