Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has decided to ban the sale and distribution of plastic and plastic products.
The Department has directed 19 different plastic industries and shops not to sell or distribute plastic below 40 microns in a single time. The department has also issued other corrective directives.
It states that necessary directives and action have been taken as per the Consumer Protection Act, 075 and Consumer Protection Rules, 2076.
The department has issued directives to Niruj Plastic Industry, MN Plastic Industry, National Plastic Industries, Kunwar Furniture Industry and Diksha Store for their implementation. Similarly, the municipality has directed plastic bags, shops and importers including Pashupatinath Enterprises and Universal Traders not to sell plastic bags below 40 microns. The department has made it clear that such a directive has been issued by Hutu, which protects the environment.
