Kathmandu. Remittances worth Rs 870.31 billion have entered the country in the first five months of the current fiscal year. According to the data released by Nepal Rastra Bank on Friday, the remittance inflow has increased by 35.6 percent in the first five months.
According to the NRB, remittances amounted to Rs 183.18 billion in the first six months of 2082 (December 2022), which was Rs 118.79 billion in the same month of the previous year. In the review period, the remittance flow in US Dollars increased by 29 per cent to reach USD 6.16 billion. In the same period of the previous year, the growth rate was 3. It was limited to 4 percent.
Net secondary income (net transfer) during the period stood at Rs. 954.78 billion, which is a significant increase over Rs. 700.43 billion in the previous year. Likewise, the number of Nepalis going for foreign employment is high. In the first five months of the current fiscal year, the number of people taking foreign employment permit has reached 175,591 while the number of those taking re-labour permit is 163,924.
