Kathmandu. According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, the price of petrol has increased in November compared to the month of November. The year-on-year consumer price inflation rose to 1.63 percent in November from 1.11 percent in November.
According to the statistics released by Nepal Rastra Bank, the year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 1.63 percent in November 2022. It was 6.05 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year.
In the review month, the inflation of food and beverages group stood at 2.05 percent and that of non-food and service group was 3.75 percent. In the corresponding period of the previous year, inflation in these groups was 9.99 percent and 3.92 percent, respectively.
The average inflation in the first five months of the fiscal year 2082/83 was 1.55 percent. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the average inflation rate was 4.89 percent.
In the food and beverage group, the index of ghee and oil sub-group increased by 5.52 percent, non-alcoholic beverages by 3.56 percent and milk and egg by 2.44 percent. However, the index of vegetables sub-group decreased by 8.54 percent, marmala by 8.43 percent and pulses by 5.79 percent.
In the non-food and service category, the Consumer Price Index of Miscellaneous Goods and Services sub-groups increased by 18.56 percent in the review period. Likewise, the prices of education increased by 7.56 per cent, clothes and footwear by 5.29 per cent, tobacco by 4.15 per cent and alcoholic beverages by 3.85 per cent. The consumer price index of the insurance and financial services sub-group decreased by 0.23 percent.
Regionally, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the rural areas increased by 1.09 percent while the urban sector increased by 1.83 percent in the review month.
According to the Province-wise data, year-on-year consumer price inflation rate is 2.54 percent in Koshi Province, 2.01 percent in Madhes Province, 1.48 percent in Bagmati Province, 1.08 percent in Gandaki Province, 1.67 percent in Lumbini Province, 1.09 percent in Karnali Province and 0.40 percent in Sudurpaschim Province.
Based on geographical region, year-on-year consumer price inflation was 1.95 percent in Kathmandu Valley, 1.71 percent in Tarai, 1.36 percent in hilly region and 1.47 percent in mountainous region.
Similarly, the year-on-year wholesale inflation stood at 2.78 percent in November 2022. In the corresponding month of the previous year, the wholesale inflation was 6.52 percent.
Year-on-year wholesale inflation of consumer goods stood at 0.41 percent while wholesale inflation of intermediate goods and capital goods stood at 4.27 percent and 2.09 percent, respectively. According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, the wholesale price index of construction materials increased by 4.52 percent in the same period.
