Kathmandu. The special general convention of the Nepali Congress (NC) is taking place at 8:00 pm today to elect a new leadership.

Issuing a notice to the Election Committee formed by the NC Special General Convention, the voting will begin at 8:00 pm.

According to the Election Committee, the first list will be published till 4:00 pm, the post-candidature will be filed till 4:30 pm and the scrutiny will be held till 5:00 pm, according to senior advocate Sitaram KC, coordinator of the election committee. Likewise, the re-publication of the name list will be done till 5:05 pm, withdrawal of candidacy registration till 5:35 pm and the final list of candidates will be published till 6:00 pm and voting will start from 8:00 pm, said coordinator KC.

The election will be held for one president, two vice-presidents, two general secretaries, eight joint general secretaries and 121 members. The election committee was formed under the convenorship of senior advocate KC as per the procedure laid down by the special general convention. Out of the total 4,743 voters in the party’s 14th general convention, there are currently 4,635 general convention delegates excluding those who died and joined other parties.
