Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has expressed his commitment to not let any leaders and cadres bow down to the party leaders.
Addressing a gathering of party leaders, cadres and well-wishers at the special general convention venue after his election to the post of party president today, he pledged to make the party members proud to be the NC.
“The confidence with which you have entrusted me with the responsibility of party president, you will not allow anyone to bow their heads in a situation,” he said. I am the pride of the Nepali Congress party. I would like to make all the friends involved in this party proud to be a Nepali Congressman. The party will do the work of convincing the people that the NC is in a difficult situation,” said the newly-elected president Thapa.
He said the special general convention of the Nepali Congress was the biggest interference by grassroots level cadres not only in the history of the party but also in the history of modern Nepal. “Grassroots cadres are people’s representatives, citizens. It is the interference of the citizens within the party. ”
Stating that the Nepali Congress has not split under any circumstances, he said no question would arise that the party split while holding a special general convention on a legitimate basis.
Earlier, Coordinator of the Central Election Committee, Sitaram KC, announced that Thapa has been elected to the post of president.
