According to Article 51 of the Political Party Act, the EC recognized Thapa as the party president.

The special general convention held in Kathmandu from January 11 to 2018 had elected Thapa as the party’s president.

President Thapa and other office-bearers had submitted an application to the EC on Thursday to update the details as per the decision taken by the special general convention.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the Purna Bahadur Khadka faction of the Deuba faction had filed a petition at the EC this morning claiming that they are the official ones.
