Gandaki. The deadline for applying for the election police to be deployed in Kaski, Baglung, Mustang and other districts on March 4 has been extended by two days.
According to the Election Police Recruitment Selection and Appointment Committee, Kaski, the deadline for the election has been extended till Saturday as the applications were insufficient from January 25 to Thursday. Member Secretary of the committee and Assistant Chief District Officer, Chitrangat Baral, said that 2,303 election police personnel would be mobilized in Kaski. Applications can be submitted to the District Police Office and Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 24 Kalika Battalion.
Priority will be given to former security personnel and former forest guards, those who have worked satisfactorily as temporary police in the recently concluded elections and those who have retired after working in security bodies of foreign friendly countries.
Assistant Chief District Officer Baral said that any person who has completed 18 years of age and is not above 54 years of age can apply for the post of Election Police. According to him, the selection process will be completed from January 19 to 10 and the results will be published on January 22. After the application is received, the process of selection and recruitment of police will move forward. According to the committee, the selected election police would be trained from January 29 to January 24. The office of the election police has been fixed at 40 days.
The election police will provide Rs 34,776 for 40 days, Rs 846 for food and uniforms, Rs 846 for preparatory expenses and Rs 1,200 for lunch for four days. The election police under the coordination of the Chief District Officer will select and appoint. The District Administration Office has stepped up preparations to make the security system efficient and effective in view of the elections.
Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangat Baral said that the office has publicly notified anyone possessing illegal arms and ammunition to the nearest police office within 15th of January. The Office of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has urged the government to make the upcoming election to the House of Representatives a free, fair, credible and fear-free environment. Action would be taken as per the prevailing law if the arms and ammunition were not handed over within the stipulated time. –
