Kalikot. Three persons died and three others were injured when a jeep met with an accident at Salleri, Shuvakalika rural municipality-4 in Kalikot district this morning.

Three persons died on the spot when a jeep (Bhe 1 Ja 2898) met with an accident while climbing uphill at Salleri along the Seri Pantadi road. Two excavator operators and a helper died in the accident, Kalikot Police Chief Him Bahadur Khatri said. The deceased have been identified as Shanker Kathayat, 28, of Aathbis municipality, Dailekh, Tekendra Shahi of Achham and helper Nawaraj Shahi of Shuvakalika-2, Kalikot. The deceased were involved in the digging of the Seri Pantadi road.

Police Chief Khatri said that preparations were underway to take the bodies of the deceased to the district headquarters after calling their relatives for post-mortem. According to him, the vehicle was broken into pieces on the bank of the Tila River some 500 meters down from the road. The jeep driver has come in contact with the police but is yet to be questioned, police said.
