Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has resigned from his post on May 6.

Balen, who is preparing to contest from Jhapa constituency-5, was supposed to resign today before filing his candidacy for the House of Representatives on January 20.

He was scheduled to attend the central committee meeting to be held at 2:00 pm today at the Rastriya Swatantra Party office. However, the source said that Balen is preparing to resign from the post at 6.

The RSP is finalizing the candidates from today’s meeting. Rabi Lamichhane and Balen are scheduled to visit Janakpur today itself after finalizing the candidates. According to sources, Balen is preparing to go to Jhapa from Janakpur.

The RSP has already set up a liaison office as it is preparing to contest the election from Jhapa constituency-5.
