Kathmandu. The Embassy of Bangladesh to Nepal in collaboration with the Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA) organized the ‘Bangladesh Medical Education Fair-2026’ in Kathmandu. The purpose of the fair is to introduce Nepali students to medical education in Bangladesh.
A total of 20 private medical colleges from Bangladesh participated in the fair. On the occasion, the participating colleges provided necessary information to Nepali students and parents about the opportunities available in Bangladesh, curriculum, admission process and other topics.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the fair, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Nepal Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman said that Nepal and Bangladesh have long enjoyed friendly relations and especially in the areas of medical education.
“Bangladesh has emerged as a dependable destination for international medical students due to its quality of education, extensive clinical practice, affordable fees, modern medical infrastructure and internationally recognized degrees,” he added.
He said Bangladesh’s medical curriculum and examination system is based on the Canadian system and it is superior to other South Asian countries. He also said that Nepali students would feel comfortable while studying in Bangladesh due to similarity in language and social environment.
According to him, students studying in Bangladesh get the opportunity to treat and test for various diseases, which strengthens their clinical knowledge. According to him, many Nepali doctors who have received medical education from Bangladesh have been significantly contributing to the health services of Nepal. He also said that the quality of postgraduate doctors prepared in Bangladesh is appreciated all over the world. On the occasion, the ambassador said that the embassy was committed to promoting collaboration in education sector and strengthening people-to-people relations.
In the inaugural session, the Secretary General of BPMCA gave a detailed presentation on the medical education system of Bangladesh and informed about the educational standards, curriculum structure, clinical exposure and student support services.
The fair provided an opportunity to the students and parents to interact directly with the representatives of Bangladeshi Medical Colleges. The participants got first-hand information about the admission process, qualifications, academic programs, fee structure, scholarships, accommodation facilities and student life in Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Medical Education Fair witnessed significant participation from students, parents and academicians. According to the organizers, more than 500 Nepali students visited the fair and interacted with the college representatives. The fair has been widely praised as a timely and informative initiative.
