Kathmandu. The CPN-UML has finalized its candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4.
A meeting of the party secretariat held at the party central office at Chyasal in Lalitpur on Saturday finalized the names of the candidates in the electoral constituencies except some constituencies, Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta said.
“The names of candidates for all constituencies except some constituencies have been finalized,” he said, adding that the responsibility of selecting the candidates for the remaining constituencies has been given to party chair KP Sharma Oli. Oli will be fielded from Jhapa constituency-5 and Devraj Ghimire from Jhapa-2.
Likewise, the party has fielded Bishnu Prasad Poudel from Palpa-2, Gokarna Bista from Gulmi-2, Prithvi Subba Gurung from Lamjung, Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta from Kailali-5 and Raghubir Mahaseth from Dhanusha-4.
Likewise, secretary duo Mahesh Basnet and Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal will be fielded from Bhaktapur-2 and Tehrathum respectively. Mohan Regmi has been selected from Kathmandu constituency no 1, Maniram Phuyal from constituency no 2, Rameshwor Phuyal from constituency no 3, Aman Kumar Maskey from constituency 6, Rajesh Shakya from constituency 8 and Binod Shrestha from constituency no 10. Deputy General Secretary Bhatta said that the secretariat meeting was held with the responsibility of finalizing the decisions made by party chair Oli in other constituencies of Kathmandu region.
The meeting also decided to propose Oli as the next prime minister of the country, according to party secretary Mahesh Basnet.
