Kathmandu. Four former prime ministers are in the fray for the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.
CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is contesting from Jhapa constituency-5.
Likewise, coordinator of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is preparing to file his candidacy from Rukum East Constituency-1 while party co-coordinator and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is preparing to file his candidacy from Rautahat Constituency-1.
Patron of the Progressive Democratic Party and former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is contesting from Gorkha constituency-2.
In the 2079 general election, UML Chairman Oli was elected from Jhapa-5, NCP coordinator Dahal from Gorkha-2 and deputy coordinator Nepal from Rautahat-1. Former Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai had supported NCP coordinator Dahal in that election.
Nepali Congress (NC) former President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was elected from Dadeldhura after the 2048 BS election, did not contest the election this time. He opted out of the election this time due to the situation arising out of the party’s special general convention.
KATHMANDU — The filing of candidacies is taking place in all 165 constituencies of the country today under the first-past-the-post (first-past) election system for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4.
