Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has called on all to file their candidacy with necessary documents in the first-past-the-post (FPTP) election scheduled for March 4.
Talking to media persons today, EC’s Information Officer Suman Ghimire urged the voters to register their candidacy in the 165 House of Representatives constituencies he or she chooses. He also requested them to fill up the form along with the nomination paper. The form is available on the Commission’s website. Information Officer Ghimire said that a ‘file of word document’ has also been placed on the commission’s website.
The EC has also drawn the attention of all aspiring candidates to prepare and submit self-declaration, commitment letter as stipulated in the election code of conduct, personal details and property details along with the nomination paper. Similarly, the EC has also called on the candidates to submit the receipt of the bail along with the nomination paper. Assistant Spokesperson of the Election Commission, Kul Bahadur GC, said that those standing in the queue with nomination papers will be allowed to register their candidacy by reaching the offices of all 165 returning officers till 5 pm today.
The EC has already called on all to bring 13 types of documents including citizenship or voter identity card for the registration of candidacy. The list of candidates will be published from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm today.
The deadline for filing complaints against the candidates who have filed their nomination papers on January 21 is 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The list of candidates will be published from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the same day after scrutiny and decision on nomination papers and complaints. The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy is from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on January 22.
According to the EC, the final list of candidates will be published from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on January 22 and election symbols will be provided to the candidates from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm the same day.
