Kathmandu. The participation of candidates from industry and business background is very high in the upcoming direct election to the House of Representatives.
Industrialists, construction entrepreneurs, tourism entrepreneurs, manpower entrepreneurs, people related to banking and energy sector are contesting the elections scheduled for March 4.
Binod Chaudhary, a central member of the Nepali Congress and chairman of Nepal’s Dollar Billionaire and Chaudhary Group, is contesting from Nawalparasi-1. He was also elected in the 2079 BS from the same constituency. Contractor and NC central member Mohan Acharya has filed his candidacy from Rasuwa.
Energy and medical practitioner Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma has filed his candidacy from Morang-3 while Chunna Prasad Sharma, chairman of Yashoda Foods, has filed his candidacy from Rupandehi-2. Anil Kumar Rungta, a businessman from Birgunj, has filed his candidacy from Parsa-1.
Similarly, Rajendra Ghimire is contesting from Jhapa-3 while Bijay Bahadur Swar is contesting from Kailali-2. Nepali Congress leader and businessman Karna Bahadur Budha is contesting from Dolpa. Former president of TAAN Ramesh Prasad Dhamala is contesting from Dhading-2 while tourism entrepreneur Krishna Rijal is contesting from Dhading-1.
Likewise, former chairman of Muktinath Bikas Bank Bharat Raj Dhakal has filed his candidacy from Syangja-1, businessman Prem Kumar Khatri from Gorkha-1, Prakash Singh Karki from Solukhumbu and businessman Yogesh Gauchan from Mustang.
Foreign employment entrepreneur Lal Prasad Sawa Limbu of Jhapa-4, foreign employment entrepreneur Tilak Ranabhat of Kaski-1, foreign employment entrepreneur Kiran Kishor Ghimire of Dang-2, businessman Keshav Pandey of Jhapa-1, Bhuwan Shrestha of Gulmi-2 and industrialist Bhagirath Sapkota of Nawalpur-1 are also in the fray.
Birendra Kumar Kanaudia, chairman of Lumbini Sugar Mills, has filed his candidacy from Kapilvastu-3. Industrialist Dilip Agrawal is contesting from Morang-2 and businessman Manoj Agrawal from Morang-5.
Polden Chopang Gurung of Manang is also a business candidate. Dairy entrepreneur Ram Chandra Upreti has filed his candidacy from Jhapa-1 and Krishna Kumar Shrestha from Bara-4.
Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Rukesh Ranjit is contesting from Bhaktapur-1. On the other hand, Dr Birendra Prasad Mahato is a businessman from the Janamat Party. He is contesting from Siraha-4.
