Jhapa. In the current fiscal year 2082/83, petroleum products worth Rs 9.77 billion have been imported from the eastern border point Kakarvitta till mid-January. Petrol, diesel, LP gas, ATF and kerosene worth Rs 9.77 billion were imported from the country.
According to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, information officer and customs officer at the Mechi Customs Office, the import of petroleum products has increased by 515.94 million or 5.60 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. With the rise in imports, revenue from petroleum products has increased by 5.70 per cent or Rs 254.24 million, he said.
According to the statistics of the office, Rs 4.74 billion revenue has been collected from the import of petroleum products in the first six months of the current fiscal year. A total of 53,152 kilolitres of petrol worth Rs 4.72 billion was imported during the period.
Similarly, 33,744 kilolitres of diesel worth Rs 3.22 billion was imported. Likewise, 12,811 metric tonnes LP gas (Rs 1.24 billion), 4,112 kilolitres ATF (Rs 379.4 million) and 964 kilolitres kerosene worth Rs 90.5 million were imported in the first six months of the current fiscal year.
